In 2014, inspired by the huge success of the Ceilidh Club, Ed decided to create a new workout concept where an even wider range of people could experience the magic of the Ceilidh (pronounced ‘kay-lee‘- a Gaelic word for ‘gathering’) as well as improve their health and fitness all in the comfort of their own home or in their local community by drawing on the exercise, movement and dance aspects of the Ceilidh Club.
This started off with the Kelta Fit DVD, which was created in partnership with the spectacular band Licence to Ceilidh. and well experienced highland dance and fitness professionals. Together they devised a fun, effective blend of aerobics and highland dance workout, filmed it and made it available for anyone to try at home. (Why not go behind the scenes of production, here.)
Of course, Ed and the team didn’t want their work to end there! So, they decided to evolve the DVD and create a training course and licence which equips teachers and instructors with the skills and tools to run Kelta Fit exercise movement and dance classes within their community. The Adult Classes course was devised first, shortly followed by the Primary and Secondary Schools course. The adult course is endorsed by REPs and allows dance teachers or group exercise instructors to deliver Kelta Fit branded classes to participants ages 16+. The kids course is endorsed by EMD UK and enables primary, secondary or school sports coaches/coordinators to deliver Kelta Fit branded classes to children (aged 5-16).
